Continuing Harvey’s long association with Mitchells & Butlers, in April 2022 we completed work on a £700K refurbishment of the Browns Brasserie & Bar in York Street Manchester. This historic Edwardian building in the city centre underwent a transformative refurbishment, equipping it with a strikingly opulent interior with art deco stylistic references, luxurious furnishing, and every detail finished to the very highest standards. Implementing the design brief included creation of a magnificent new bar as a centrepiece to the immense space with its high ceilings, ornately tiled floors and marble columns. Work was completed in 7 weeks and the project delivered on schedule. M&B have expressed great satisfaction with the completed project, the refurbishment well-received by senior management, described as impressive and a huge source of pride to those involved in the project and the team who operate the restaurant.

Proceeding from the successful refurbishment of Browns in Manchester, Harvey are proud to have just completed a £2.5 million refurbishment of Browns’ flagship restaurant in London’s Covent Garden. Located in the Grade II-listed former Westminster County Court building, central to the capital’s famous theatre district and cultural hub, the refurbished restaurant now provides a distinctive, elegant and distinguished environment, once again taking its place among the district’s high-end dining providers. The launch of this extensive makeover was timed to coincide with the group’s 50th anniversary. Harvey have worked with Browns for many years now, having completed fit-outs on several of their premises including Bristol and Manchester, and now delivering this large, prestige project. The grand scale of the Covent Garden refurbishment encompassed the implementation of an Art Deco inspired styling to the interior across the building’s four floors, with luxury and opulence as the guiding principle throughout. The project included the installation of the new keynote Spey Bar, an atmospheric space dedicated to showcasing the finest Scottish whiskies. Successfully managing the logistical challenges of a central London location the project was completed to schedule for the anniversary date.

All Bar One is an established and popular fixture among the bar and restaurant scene in the heritage city of Bath. With a prime central location it is popular with both locals and also benefits from Bath’s considerable tourist footfall. One of the national brands managed by Mitchells & Butlers, whose portfolio includes many of the UK’s most well-known restaurant and pub chains. M&B are long-time clients of Harvey, trusting us over many years to deliver to the very high standards that define all their premises. The 3-week project entailed implementing a new design scheme, an extensive refresh of the restaurant’s cavernous interior. This was part of a scheduled roll-out of makeovers that are applied to the group’s premises approximately every seven years, or whenever needed to keep things fresh and engaging. The interior design adapted some of the existing structural features whilst installing new finishes to an uplifted specification. Some bespoke fabrication was undertaken by the Harvey workshops, notably screens and mirror detailing. Overall, the outcome brings a fresh, subtly coordinated style to this space.
